Frequently Asked Questions

Eligibility

1. Who is eligible to participate in the Challenge?

This Challenge is open to any individual aged 18 and above, group of individuals and or existing legal business entity who has an innovative business solution that leverages on digital technologies to solve social issues and/or achieve social impact in Singapore, Indonesia and/or Malaysia.

Participants or participating ventures should not be a subsidiary of an existing corporation or have legal relationship to any government body.  In addition, participating ventures should not exceed 9 years of full operations at the time of application.

Participants should not have any religious and/or political agenda or affiliations.

2. Do I need to incorporate my business before I can apply to the Challenge?

You do not need to incorporate your business before applying.  However, if you are selected as one of the prize winners, your venture has to be legally incorporated before you can receive the prize money.

3. Can I participate in this competition if I do not have a valid passport for international travel?

Yes, you can still participate. However, if your team is selected for the semi-final or final round, and is required to travel to participate in the judging round, you are responsible for having the appropriate travel documents.

Team Formation

4. Is there any limitation or restriction to team formation?

There is neither restriction in the team composition nor limitation to the number of members in each team although 3 to 6 members per team is highly recommended. Though you may apply as an individual, we encourage you to build a team to execute your idea realistically.

5. May I join more than one team?

To ensure commitment and avoid conflict of interest, you are not encouraged to join more than one team.

6. Can I change my team after I’ve submitted my application?

Yes, you may change your team. Please withdraw your submission and re-submit your application before the deadline on 15 January.

Submission

7. How do I submit my idea?

You can access the application form by clicking on the “Sign Up Now” button on the top right corner of the page, or you can access the application form here.

You have to first create an account before you can complete your application. If you already have a Younoodle account, there is no need to create a new one. You can always save your application and work on it to be submitted at a later time.

8. When do I have to submit my application?

You may submit your application anytime from 1 November 2018 to 15 January 2019, 2359 hours (Singapore Time).

9. How many entries can one team submit?

Each team may submit many entries but only the last submission before the deadline will be considered for judging.

10. Will my video be made public?

Videos of shortlisted finalists may be posted on the Challenge website for public viewing.

11. Am I allow to use the same business idea for another competition?

Yes, you are allowed to participate in another competition using the same business idea, but do inform us in the event of any win and/or receipt of prize money.

12. When will I know if I’ve been shortlisted?

You will be notified by email according to the timeline listed on the website. The results will also be announced on the competition website.

Confidentiality of the Business Plan and Protection of Intellectual Property (IP)

13. Do the organisers sign a confidentiality agreement with the participant?

The organisers do not sign a confidentiality agreement with the participant.  Participants can be assured that the organisers of the competition will strictly uphold the integrity of the competition, and our judges and mentors are advised to do the same.  The business plan is only used for judging purpose and will not be disclosed to any third parties except to the judges.  Participants are allowed to describe their business concept without full-disclosure of their propriety assets.

14. Do the organisers retain the rights to my business plan and any IP?

No, the participants retain their rights to their business plans and any IP.  In any case, the protection of these rights is the ultimate responsibility of each participant.  Participants are urged to mark as “CONFIDENTIAL” on any portion of their entries which they deem to be confidential.
